Problem

Autonomous driving is unapproachable. The real thing is a research budget and a closed course, so a developer curious about it has nowhere to start and nothing to fail safely on.

Solution

A hands-on build and race in Seattle. Developers trained models on small Arm-powered cars and ran them against a taped course.

Analysis

The format shrinks autonomous driving until one person can hold the whole loop in their head in an afternoon. Train, run, crash, adjust, run again, with a car small enough that crashing costs nothing.

Ending on a race is what kept people iterating. Without it most teams stop at their first clean lap.

Result

220 developers.
